GRR sells Essen local retail property from fund to REWE

Hamburg / Nuremberg,

The asset and investment manager GRR Real Estate Management GmbH (GRR REM) has sold a local supply property in Essen-Bergerhausen to the REWE Group. The property, which is used by REWE, was sold in an off-market deal. The property was previously part of the portfolio of a special AIF.

Andreas Freier, Managing Director of GRR REM, sees the sale as confirmation of the fund management's investment strategy: "When acquiring retail properties, we attach great importance to sustainable concepts, a high degree of development flexibility and sought-after locations. In this way, we guarantee investors the acquisition of high-quality and economically attractive properties."

Local supermarket in a highly frequented location

The local retail property at Rellinghauser Strasse 245 (corner of Töpferstrasse) was built in 1979. The 2,010 m² of rental space is used entirely by REWE. There are also a good 50 car parking spaces on the almost 4,800 m² property.

GRR purchased the property in 2015. Its location on one of Essen's main traffic routes with a direct connection to the city centre and in the immediate vicinity of the motorway junction ensures excellent accessibility and contributes significantly to the property's high footfall.

In addition, the property has been continuously developed over the years in cooperation with the tenant REWE and adapted to current market and shop concepts. In 2013, the property underwent extensive refurbishment, in which the parties involved invested around 500,000 euros. In 2024, the property still has a modern external appearance.
